Some have a higher pain tolerance or pain threshold and do not need to take medication to stop arthritic pain.  </p>
<p>Medically speaking, pain tolerance refers to just how much pain a person can withstand before breaking down emotionally or psychologically. In some cases, it may also refer to how much pain a person can endure before passing out. However, some people afflicted with arthritis claim that pain tolerance may also refer to the body and mind&#8217;s ability to incorporate or endure pain on a daily basis and, thereby negating pain as a  hindrance.  It is very interesting that pain tolerance can be actually developed by training the mind and the body to “ignore” pain. However, the use of the term “ignore” might be a misnomer in this case.  Patients who refuse to take arthritis pain relief medications attest that those who have pain tolerance don&#8217;t so much as ignore pain as they do simply “live with it.”  The idea is that people with a high level of pain tolerance have developed a threshold that can be similar to people with alcohol tolerance.  Other people can drink a lot without getting drunk. Some people can take pain more frequently and at higher levels compared to most people.  </p>
<p>Pain tolerance is still the subject of much debate in scientific circles. There are many patients who claim that it is real and that they can actually demonstrate their ability to withstand pain. On the other hand,  people who have taken arthritis pain relief medications claim that the said drugs can dull the mind&#8217;s ability to drown out the sensation of pain. They further claim that the dulling sensation also prevents them from performing other daily tasks.  </p>
<p>However, despite reported side effects, most prefer to stick to using arthritis pain relief medication. For one thing, most people would rather not have to spend the time needed to grow accustomed to the pain. Another obvious reason is that not everyone can develop a high tolerance for pain. In some ways, pain tolerance is affected by a person&#8217;s psychology and outlook. </p>
<p>Deciding who needs to take drugs to control arthritis is an important task for a pain control specialist or doctor. Since a person&#8217;s state of mind determines how much a person can mentally handle before breaking down, a doctor cannot simply decide if medication is needed without a thorough consultation. In addition, there is also the possibility of developing drug dependence due to long-term use of arthritis pain relief.</p>
<p>Whether patients can develop pain tolerance when taken off arthritis pain relief treatments is arguable, at best. Not everyone has the same threshold of pain as those who don&#8217;t take the medication, and others may simply be capable of enduring more pain. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When most Americans imagine  Africa, they think of starvation, draught, and disease.  Ironically, this continent is now seeing obesity rates rising.  The crisis is due to the new lifestyles, and the idea that being big is beautiful.</p>
<p>Over 33 percent of African women and one-fourth of African men are believed to be overweight.  The World Health Organization believes that the number of Africans overweight or obese will rise to 41 percent and 30 percent respectively within the next 10 years.  </p>
<p>Obesity rates are greater in South Africa.  Approximately 56 percent of South African women are either obese or overweight compared to 10 percent that are underweight.  Obesity is not only affecting adults, but also teenagers.  About 25 percent of teen girls and 17 percent of all young people are overweight.  </p>
<p>The troubles are due to native diets that are typically excessive in starches and sugars.  Fast food and soda are just as well-liked in Africa as they are in the U.S. Unlike the U.S., Africa has not been making efforts to educate the populace about a healthy weight vs. obesity and the health problems that are associated therewith, African countries do little to educate their populations on the dangers of obesity.</p>
<p>Like many of their developing-world counterparts, Africans are pleased to be obese.  In societies stricken by decades of need and inequity, obesity is seen as beautiful and a sign of means and rank.  If you are fatter, then you are richer, higher on the financial hierarchy of your community.</p>
<p>This doesn’t mean Africans are unaware to the virtues of weight loss. Many Africans confess they would like to lose weight but care about what others would say and think. One African woman says that she is worried about losing weight because then people would think she had tuberculosis or AIDS, two diseases that can make one an outsider in African society.</p>
<p>Urbanization is on the climb in Africa, which has led to less walking and physical activity in general.  Cultural problems, like viewing the rejection of food as bad-mannered, might also be linked to the rise in obesity.</p>
<p>Obesity, of course, is not attributable exclusively to behavior.  Children born to underweight mothers, a common occurrence in African families, tend to have a higher risk of being overweight when they reach adulthood.  They are also more prone to obesity because family members give them extra food to help them compensate.</p>
<p>In a cruel twist, the continent once known solely for severe under-nutrition must also deal now with over-nutrition as well.  Even though the obesity rates are lower in Sub-Saharan Africa than many industrial countries, officials worry that, with health systems already stretched by AIDS and other diseases, they will buckle with extra burdens like heart disease, strokes, and diabetes, all of which have been linked to obesity.</p>

Nearly all Americans have at least one risk factor including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, being overweight, or exercising too little.</p>
<p>Since the 1990s Americans have continuously packed on the weight. Therefore more people are getting heart disease and  diabetes. Thousands of Americans between the ages of 25 and 74 participated in the study. The outcome showed that only 10  percent of Americans had low risk scores in all five categories. These totals are extremely valuable because the No. 1  fatal disease in the U.S. and many other countries is heart disease.</p>
<p>It seems that this isn&#8217;t just an obstacle for Americans. Obesity rates are also rising in many other countries throughout the world. And  this is  diabetes, high blood pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI) to escalate in the wrong direction. Although it seems  like everyone is on a diet and trying to eat healthier but there hasn&#8217;t been much of a a transformation.</p>
<p>Still, now more than ever people are either <a href='http://www.classesandcareers.com/online-degrees_health-nursing/courses_health-services/programs_fitness-nutrition' target='_blank'>exercising</a>, getting surgery, or going on far fetched diets to shed those pounds.  Despite these efforts, the waistlines don&#8217;t seem to be shrinking but gradually growing. </p>

It may be hard, but you will see results.</p>
